What We Offer
The Materials Manager ASC coordinates activities, supplies, and vendors to ensure safe, high-quality patient care along with cost-effective and efficient operations of the surgery center.
What You'll Do
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels by monitoring stock, utilizing inventory management systems, and establishing par levels for medical supplies and equipment.
- Partners closely with clinical teams to accurately track tissue, implants, and other specialized supplies throughout the patient care process.
- Collaborates with internal departments to ensure timely ordering, follow-up, and delivery of supplies and equipment.
- Communicates proactively with clinical and operational teams regarding backorders, substitutions, supply shortages, or other unexpected inventory issues to minimize disruptions to patient care.
- Coordinates with vendors and sales representatives to resolve supply-related issues, expedite deliveries, and ensure product availability.
- Maintains accurate documentation and data integrity across inventory management, electronic medical record (EMR), and accounts payable (AP) systems, ensuring pricing compliance, contract adherence, and fiscal responsibility.
- Oversees the receipt, inspection, and distribution of all incoming medical supplies and equipment.
- Maintains product expiration dates, rotates inventory appropriately, and ensures compliance with inventory control and regulatory standards.
- Leads the new product evaluation process, partnering with senior leadership, physicians, and clinical staff to assess and implement new products and technologies.
- Researches and evaluates new vendors, products, and sourcing opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives and special projects by collecting, analyzing, and presenting data to support operational excellence and informed decision-making.
What We're Looking For
- Education: High School or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.
- Experience: Three years as a surgical tech or materials management, required.
- Additional Skills/Requirements (required): Computer experience required (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel preferred) as well as knowledge of computer inventory management systems, electronic health records, and various software programs. Knowledge/experience in using pallet jack, dock board and hand trucks. Must possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities, organize, and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Working knowledge of medical products as well as knowledge of stocking and storing medical and non-medical supplies. Effective oral & written communication skills. Good numerical skills. Ability to function effectively within a team-oriented work environment.
