About the role
This position is responsible for the administration of the Materials Management Program for LifeCenter’s clinical operations. Serves as a primary purchasing agent for supplies and equipment related to clinical operations. Liaises with tissue processing partners, equipment, and facility vendors to support clinical operations. Participates in onboarding and core competency assessment of Materials Management staff.
Responsibilities
- Establishes and maintains par levels for all critical materials forecasting usage and anticipating variation in operational activity and availability of supplies.
- Ensures necessary materials are readily available to staff. Orders materials based on anticipated usage, and potential for disruption to availability of materials.
- Conducts incoming inspection of materials, ensuring that all materials are received as expected (product type, quantity, quality, condition, expiration date etc.).
- Maintains accurate record of inventory at all LifeCenter locations. Ensures inventory rotation to reduce instance of product loss, and timely removal of expired material from inventory. Disposes of expired supplies as per applicable regulation.
- Creates and maintains accurate, complete, and concurrent materials management records and logs of activities performed in accordance with LifeCenter policy, applicable standards, and regulations.
- Aids Quality & Regulatory Affairs with environmental monitoring of storage areas including responding to temperature excursions which could affect product.
- Timely communication of all vendors, supply, equipment, and other materials management issues, to the Quality Systems Manager.
- Responsible for timely transfer of equipment and materials to sterilization provider facilities, staging areas and LCNW satellite facilities.
- Collaborates with the Quality Systems Manager to deliver onboarding training for the Materials Management staff. Assists in evaluating employee competency and the effectiveness of staff training.
- Assists in coordinating fleet vehicle maintenance, repairs, insurance claims, and licensing.
- Schedules maintenance vendors for clinical facility operations, such as instrument sharpening, appliance repair, equipment calibration and preventative maintenance.
- Serves as primary contact for Surgical Recovery Suite (SRS) property management for building maintenance needs.
- Maintains storage and other critical areas in a clean and orderly state including performing routine cleaning activities as directed.
- Maintains current safety data sheets for all hazardous materials. Maintains medical waste destruction log and hazardous material disposal logs as appropriate.
- Performs Safety inspections and assists in the development of corrective actions to address any safety findings.
- Supervision: Has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
- Other Responsibilities: Performs other related duties as required by the needs of the company and the senior leadership team. Participates in, and may lead, employee committees and events.

Physical Activities/Requirements
- Travel is essential to this position; consequently, the employee must be prepared to travel by automobile and airplane and may be requested to operate company vehicles.
- The individual must be able to communicate clearly using the English language to accurately convey information and hear at normal speaking levels in person and over the phone.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Proficiency in the use of computer equipment and software.
- Work is normally performed in an office or OR setting as well as other business environments. Generally, working conditions have exposure to bio-hazardous materials.
Education, Experience & Job Requirements
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing and supply chain management required.
- Advanced education, such as a bachelor's degree or college coursework in a relevant field, CPSM or APICS certificate, or demonstrated equivalent work experience.
- Requires a valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile for work-related functions at expected times.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or applicable medical or religious exemption will be required as a condition of employment upon offer.
