Materials Management Manager
Description for Internal Candidates
The Materials Management Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the procurement, inventory management, warehousing, receiving, storage, and distribution of materials required to support business operations. This role ensures the timely availability of materials while optimizing inventory levels, reducing costs, maintaining quality standards, and supporting operational efficiency. You will work at our location in Spokane, WA and report to our Plant Director.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management
- Develop and implement inventory control strategies to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Monitor inventory accuracy and conduct regular cycle counts and audits.
- Analyze inventory trends and identify opportunities to reduce excess and obsolete stock.
- Ensure material availability to support production, maintenance, or operational requirements.
Procurement & Supply Chain Coordination
- Collaborate with procurement teams to forecast material demand and establish purchasing plans.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Support contract negotiations and supplier management initiatives.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks.
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee receiving, storage, handling, and distribution of materials.
- Ensure warehouse operations comply with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
- Optimize warehouse layouts and material flow processes.
- Implement best practices for material handling and inventory storage.
Planning & Forecasting
- Develop short- and long-term material requirements plans.
- Collaborate with production, operations, and finance teams on demand forecasting.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory turns, stockouts, and service levels.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop materials management staff.
- Establish performance goals and conduct employee evaluations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and training programs.

Qualifications
MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- 5–8+ years of experience in materials management, inventory control, supply chain, or warehouse operations.
- 2–5 years of supervisory or management experience.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and supply chain processes.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
- We value APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent.
- Leverage Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, distribution, or industrial environments.
Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position is $104,289K - $130,872K. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
