About the role

The Material Handler- Finish will assist the Electrical Body Teams and Finish Body Teams by ensuring proper parts and materials are delivered to trucks in a timely manner for production orders. The Material Handler- Finish will also help keep work areas neat and organized and lanes clear by taking out garbage and cardboard.

Responsibilities

  • Keeps gasket, fireproof cabinet, spare material carts, and Stock areas cleaned and stocked up with necessary parts.
  • Sign in warehouse parts carts for trucks and return carts back to warehouse.
  • Delivers fabricated parts cart to aisle of coordinating truck, and transfers parts to red fab cart once parts are verified to be correct and made to print.
  • Delivers painted parts and parts requests to coordinating trucks.
  • Takes out cardboard, pallets or wood, weighs and unloads sheer bin, and dumps garbage cans.
  • Assist with taping off and covering bumpers/running boards, putting plastic covering on all T/P compartments, putting foam triangles in air horns, and other special projects as needed.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift preferred.
  • 2+ years of previous experience in a materials department required.
  • Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
  • May be required to operate company vehicles to move parts needed from building to building for production purposes.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally; overtime as needed to meet the needs of the department.

Skills

Language

  • Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
  • Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Math

  • Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Computer

  • Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.

Abilities

  • Able to communicate progress of projects to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.
  • Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
  • Able to understand and follow all safety policies to promote a safe working environment for all.
