About the role

The Distribution Process Worker Expediter Leader leads wage grade employees performing Distribution Process Worker Expediter duties, monitors workflow, ensures continuous productivity, and adjusts work to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Receives materials, parts, components, and assemblies undergoing test, repair, rework, or manufacture within the maintenance production complex.
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, and other requests for materials, tools, and related items.
  • Expedites the routing and movement of critical parts and materials that most affect production.
  • Unloads and moves parts/materials for turn in to supply and verifies all required documentation is provided to receiving personnel.
  • Operates and performs routine maintenance on various material handling equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Tour of Duty: 1st Shift, Set Schedule.
  • Security Requirements: Non-Critical Sensitive.
  • Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Non-Exempt.
  • Selective Service Requirement: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • Selectees are required to have a REAL ID or other acceptable identification documents to access certain federal facilities.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) license.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element will be eliminated from further competition.

Physical Effort

The employee stands on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. The work requires bending, stooping, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions, many times all at the same time. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 60 pounds. Uses weight handling equipment or receives assistance from other workers for items heavier than 60 pounds. The work requires light to moderate physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls while driving, raising, lowering, and tilting materials handling equipment.

Working Conditions

The DPWE Leader is regularly exposed to possible injury associated with handling equipment. Due to the nature of the work, the employee is subject to cuts, scrapes, bruises, muscle strain, noise, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock and must wear protective clothing such as steel-toed shoes, respirators, safety glasses and earplugs. Works both inside and outside in areas that are hot, damp, cold, drafty, and may be poorly lighted.
