Materials Engineering Co-op

This Materials Engineering Co-Op helps deliver a wide range of raw material characterization and qualification projects by performing a variety of engineering and research assignments. Additionally, the co-op will have the opportunity to work with global material suppliers and teams both domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Review the progress and evaluate the data of multiple projects across various functional groups, then present the results.
• Coordinate raw material and contact lens testing and protocol requirements to achieve project completion.
• Facilitate and conduct engineering assignments involving business continuity and cost improvement projects.
• Act as an advocate for the continuous improvement of technology and processes.
• Adhere to environmental policy and procedures and support department environmental objectives.
• Collaborate with internal multi-functional teams and interact with external partners and raw material suppliers both domestically and internationally.

Requirements

• Current student of Chemical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Bioengineering, Polymer Science and Engineering, or equivalent required experience.
• 0 to 3 years with a BS in Engineering or Science-related field; graduate school students are encouraged to apply.
• Availability to work on site if required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Experience with statistical design and analysis of experiments (Minitab or any statistical analysis tool).

Candidate Eligibility

• Be authorized to work in the US without current or future sponsorship requirements.
• Remain actively enrolled in their academic program throughout the entire internship period.
• Be available to work 40 hours per week during the internship.
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship and do not meet the requirements unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Skills

• Required: Communication, Organizing, Statistical Analysis, Statistical Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Preferred: Clean Room Manufacturing, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Manufacturing Environments, Minitab, Statistical Software.
