Materials Engineer

Job Summary

Prysmian is seeking an R&D Materials Senior Engineer to lead compound development projects and communicate results to the broader Technology team. This role involves developing new polymeric compounds and evaluating their performance, working closely with manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Leads or supports cross-functional project teams in production-scale compounding and prototype processing trials.
• Drives cost reduction and enhanced performance compound development from bench scale to commercialization.
• Investigates and applies new polymer and additive technologies from various suppliers.
• Leverages polymers and materials experience to identify and execute projects improving compound/cable sustainability and carbon footprint.
• Works to tight deadlines and contributes to longer term R&D projects.
• Coordinates laboratory experiments through Technical Service Requests.
• Provides guidance to R&D Materials laboratory technicians to complete project tasks.
• Creates and modifies compound specifications to support the manufacture of new or existing compounds.
• Prepares informative and accurate technical reports.
• Updates and maintains records/database on compound changes or modifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in Chemical or Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience with demonstrated expertise in Polymer Compound development and processing.
• Good understanding of Structure Property Relationships of Polymer blends.
• Proven track record of delivering projects and communicating results.
• Previous experience with Polymer Compound development in the wire & cable industry preferred.

Education

Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of a B.S. degree in Chemical or Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline. An advanced degree is preferred.
