Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a variety of materials and process engineering disciplines including non-metals, adhesives, bonding, cleaning, failure analysis, and manufacturing operations
  • Materials and processes related experience and/or field of study
  • Formal coursework, training, experience and/or knowledge in Materials or Processes for development, improvement, design, application and production
  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance; US Citizenship required

About the Role

The Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) team has a long history of supporting the Navy's mission to provide affordable and credible strategic defense. With over 60 years of experience, the team has developed a unique expertise in delivering advanced technologies to keep the country and its allies secure.

Responsibilities

  • Select Materials, and Processes (M&P) on new designs that will help defend our country
  • Get hands-on manufacturing experience of the next satellite
  • Provide oversight to an extensive supply chain providing products critical to Mission Success
  • Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments
  • Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions
  • Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials & processes
  • Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks
  • Prepare specifications
  • Evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports
  • Cook with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement

Requirements

  • Self-starter who develops solutions to technical issues
  • Motivated individual who's able to work closely within a geographically diverse team to resolve technical issues
  • Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable with communicating in a variety of forums
  • The ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels

Qualifications

  • Learn more about Lockheed Martin’s comprehensive benefits package
  • Familiar with general aerospace materials and processes
  • Familiarity with technical requirements (material and process specifications, program requirements, etc.)
  • Familiarity with technical requirements (specifications, program plans/requirements, etc.)
  • Non-conformance and failure analysis disposition experience
  • Understanding of material properties definitions
  • Bachelor's degree in Material Science & Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

Skills

  • Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
