Materials and/or Environmental Licensing Engineer

About the role

TerraPower is seeking a highly motivated Materials and/or Environmental Licensing Engineer to join the Regulatory Affairs and Licensing team. This position reports to the Sr. VP, Regulatory Affairs, and involves assisting with materials or environmental licensing submittals, developing regulatory strategies, and managing interactions with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements the Materials or the Environmental Licensing Project Plans.
• Develops, executes, and maintains the schedule for preparing and obtaining regulatory approval of licensing submittals.
• Plans, coordinates, organizes, and executes ongoing materials or environmental licensing activities.
• Develops, reviews, and submits environmental permit applications, ensuring alignment with applicable NRC, NEPA, and EPA regulatory requirements.
• Prepares for meetings, submittals, and interactions with regulatory authorities.
• Works closely with partner organizations to provide required support on materials or environmental licensing activities.
• Manages interactions and communications with regulatory authorities.
• Develops materials or environmental licensing submittals, including implementation of the licensing strategy.
• Works closely with design authority or design engineering groups to ensure timely engineering products for licensing activities.
• Actively participates in industry groups and forums, implementing lessons learned and best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with strong experience in the nuclear field; advanced degree preferred.
• Capability and willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards.
• 10-15 years of direct materials and/or environmental licensing experience.
• 10-15 years of direct experience with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
• 10-15 years of direct experience in project management.
• Excellent communicator, team-oriented, and able to operate within a matrix organization.
• Experience working with plant design teams is desirable.
• Experience with advanced reactors is desirable but not mandatory.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage deadlines.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Professional.

TerraPower's technology is controlled for export by various U.S. Government agencies. Applicants who are foreign nationals (other than asylees, refugees, or lawful permanent residents) will be evaluated in accordance with U.S. Government export control requirements.

Pay

Salary Range: $148,722 - $193,146 (specific to Washington State). Any salary offered within this range is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual's qualifications and experience.
