About the role

The Advanced Microscopy team is seeking a Materials Analyst to join our XSEM (Cross-Section Scanning Electron Microscopy) Engineering group. This is a hands-on, production-focused role centered on SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) Imaging, sample prep cross-sectioning, and micro cleaving, to support advanced materials and semiconductor analysis for clients across multiple industries. The successful candidate will be a strong technical contributor who thrives in a fast-paced lab environment, enjoys focused tool time, and values producing high-quality, site-specific results within defined client timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently utilize scanning electron microscope and appropriate sample preparation techniques to provide high-quality data to clients.
  • Manage multiple client samples, ensuring adherence to internal quality and security standards and turnaround commitments.
  • Work closely with your team to optimize workflows, improve efficiency, and maintain consistent output.
  • Collaborate with internal analytical teams and, as needed, clients to understand analysis requirements and standardized procedures.

This role is well-suited for analysts who prefer focused tool time, hands-on execution, and technical problem-solving in a collaborative lab setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with SEM or strong academic/early-industry exposure with demonstrated capability to independently execute sample preparation workflows.
  • Working knowledge of electron microscopy principles (SEM).
  • General understanding of semiconductor device physics and failure analysis concepts gained through coursework, lab work, or prior industry experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven lab environment.

Qualifications

This position is designed for early- to mid-career professionals (BS/MS level) and is not aligned with PhD-level candidates.

  • Advanced SEM imaging or sample preparation experience.
  • Prior experience supporting high-throughput or production laboratory environments.
  • Clear, timely technical communication with internal teams and external clients.

Schedule

Wednesday through Saturday, 6pm to 5am (4 days/10 hours per day).

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally move about inside the office or laboratory to access file cabinets, machinery, or equipment.
  • Continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods (4 or more hours).
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard, telephone, and lab equipment.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
  • Ability to speak and hear clearly for communication in various settings.
  • Capability to learn new tasks, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, and make timely decisions in a workflow context.
