Position Summary

The role of Materials & Tooling Director directly supports Nordex's mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality for the world. As the Materials & Tooling Director, you will provide strategic leadership for all materials management, inventory control, warehousing, logistics coordination, and tooling operations supporting wind turbine construction projects across North America. This position is responsible for ensuring projects receive the right materials, spare parts, and certified tooling at the right time, location, and cost while driving operational excellence, inventory optimization, tooling readiness, and successful project execution.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and execute North America materials and tooling strategies that support business and project objectives.
  • Lead inventory management, warehousing, logistics, and tooling operations across multiple project sites.
  • Establish and maintain governance, policies, procedures, and performance standards for materials and tooling functions.
  • Oversee the planning and availability of construction materials, spare parts, and tooling required to support project schedules.
  • Manage tooling lifecycle activities including procurement, inspections, certifications, maintenance, calibration, and replacement.
  • Drive inventory accuracy through audits, cycle counts, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Construction, Commissioning, Supply Chain, Logistics, Sourcing, and Global teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets related to materials, warehousing, logistics, and tooling assets.
  • Monitor inventory valuation, tooling asset utilization, and cost performance while identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Lead warehouse operations and transportation strategies supporting domestic and international project requirements.
  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation plans to support schedule adherence and project success.
  • Present business performance, key metrics, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.

What You Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in materials management, supply chain, logistics, tooling management, construction operations, or industrial project execution.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing teams, supervisors, and/or managers.
  • Experience supporting large-scale construction, manufacturing, industrial, infrastructure, renewable energy, or EPC projects.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, transportation management, and asset management practices.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders across multiple business functions.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 35% domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport.
  • Master's degree, MBA, APICS/ASCM certification, PMP, Lean, or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience within renewable energy, wind energy, heavy industrial, or large-scale construction environments preferred.
  • Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess a full valid driver's license and be insurable under our auto insurance policy. This position will be subject to periodic driver's abstract checks to confirm continued insurability.
