About the Role

What if your deep expertise in material science could directly shape how AI reasons about semiconductors, molecular structures, and advanced materials — influencing research and technology for years to come? We're looking for Materials Science experts with Master's or PhD-level credentials to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models. You'll bring your domain knowledge to bear on complex, real-world problems — helping AI systems think more rigorously about the science that underpins modern technology. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI background needed — just serious expertise in your field and a sharp eye for scientific accuracy.

Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

Responsibilities

  • Develop, solve, and review advanced material science problems with real-world scientific relevance
  • Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related disciplines to design complex, nuanced problem statements
  • Evaluate AI-generated scientific content for accuracy, depth, and rigor
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to enhance AI model reasoning
  • Ensure scientific clarity and precision across all deliverables
  • Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Material Science or a closely related field
  • Deep expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or comparable research areas
  • Proficient in Python or MATLAB through research or applied project work
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented — you hold your work to a high scientific standard
  • A clear, precise communicator in written English
  • Based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or AI training workflows
  • Background in research involving computational materials science or nanomaterials
  • Experience reviewing or publishing technical scientific content
  • Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts as a practitioner or curious observer
