This position is onsite at Bell's Drive Systems Center in Grand Prairie, Texas.

About the Role

This position is for a Material Review Board (MRB) member who evaluates and dispositions discrepant parts on the production floor and procured components. The Engineer will disposition defects and oversee planning, repair, and/or acceptance of flight articles. The role involves leading technical discussions to assess part conditions and repair capabilities, collaborating with engineering support groups (drive system design, stress, fatigue), production supervisors, and managers. The candidate will participate in root cause corrective action teams to reduce recurring defects.

Responsibilities

  • Become a certified MRB board member to disposition non-conforming drive system components (gears, bearings, shafts, housings, and supporting components), including designing original repairs (e.g., bushings/sleeves/liners) based on fit/form/function at the next assembly.
  • Serve as a member of the Planning Review Board, reviewing and approving fabrication planning and providing repair dispositions for Controlled Items (Primary, Critical, & Flight Safety Parts).
  • Provide engineering cross-function support and design interpretation to manufacturing/production teams.
  • Support new and existing program development and improvements.
  • Lead internal and external technical discussions to assess part conditions and repair capabilities.
  • Collaborate with drive system design, stress, and fatigue teams, as well as production supervisors and managers, to assess part conditions and execute repairs.
  • Participate in root cause corrective action teams in the factory and with suppliers to reduce recurring defects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a relevant Engineering field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of engineering experience in dynamic component or drive system fabrication within aerospace or automotive industries.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting fabrication problems and process improvements in an aerospace manufacturing environment for machined metallic parts.
  • Knowledge of drive systems design principles.
  • Experience reading blueprints, material specifications, process specifications, and government regulations pertaining to the repair of discrepant parts.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) requirements.
  • Experience in an aerospace or automotive environment, focused on mechanical components such as gears, bearings, and shafting.
  • Experience in a precision manufacturing environment, including metal machining, heat treatments, and other specialized processes.
  • Strong analytical and design abilities.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks while managing change.
  • Leadership in driving solutions for projects/tasks of varying complexity, working with multiple groups and suppliers.
  • Success in team environments, articulating technical data and concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Action- and results-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external suppliers, and leadership.

Experience with SAP/CAMS systems for component fabrication, disposition, and repairs is preferred.

This position requires use of information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee) is required for access to export-restricted information. Non-U.S. persons must meet eligibility requirements.
