About the role
As a Materials Requirements Planner at Johnson & Johnson, you will coordinate and execute all activities related to the planning and procurement of raw materials and components. You will convert the output of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and the Detailed Schedule (DS) into material requirements to ensure the availability of the right quantity of components to the production lines when needed. You will present the plan to suppliers within agreed lead times and be a key part of a team that optimizes the flow of materials while considering plant warehouse capacity and inventory targets to eliminate potential disruptions, storage costs, and material scrap (SLOB) at both the site and API Large Molecule Platform levels.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, publish, and communicate Materials Requirements Plans (MRP) to ensure patient and customer requirements are met.
- Maintain inventory levels within goals while minimizing excess, obsolete, and expired materials.
- Contribute to the global balancing of materials and components to ensure efficient and effective procurement and inventory practices, optimizing the balance between quality, service, reliability, and cost.
- Ensure all material delivery schedules are communicated to suppliers on time to meet plan requirements.
- Partner with Global Procurement to drive supplier performance improvement, including quality and timely delivery in line with the master production schedule.
- Track and report site/platform-level supplier service performance, communicating the information to relevant parties.
- Collaborate with Quality and Warehouse staff regarding rejected/defective materials, making physical arrangements with the supplier to ensure timely return of goods or disposal.
- Focus on and encourage continuous improvement (CI) of processes.
- Support material and component Phase-in and Phase-out processes.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant Supply Chain Management experience (Planning, Purchasing, Logistics, or Manufacturing) in a multinational environment.
- Ability to complete department and personnel goals and objectives in a timely and efficient manner.
- Demonstrated drive, eagerness, and capability to succeed in this role with a view to developing and progressing to leadership within Johnson & Johnson.
- Understanding of efficient and effective material planning and supply chain management processes and systems.
- Ability to ensure customer requirements are clearly planned for and communicated within the organization.
- Strong customer-focused orientation.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with all other departments and align across JSC and other J&J organizations.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in the Pharmaceutical and/or Biopharmaceutical industry is preferable.
- Knowledge of SAP/OMP is preferred.
- Other Supply Chain Certifications (e.g., APICS) are preferred.
- Lean Certification is desirable.
