Responsibilities
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support the production plan.
- Order all Serial Production parts from vendors/suppliers in correct quantities and timelines to meet production demand.
- Work with suppliers to expedite or defer materials based on changes in internal and external customer requirements to meet production and inventory objectives.
- Communicate near-term and mid-range demand forecasts with suppliers to ensure material availability.
- Identify and escalate issues that may impact production or customer delivery timelines.
- Collaborate with the sourcing department to ensure all component parts are available to meet start date build schedules.
- Coordinate outside process orders, including creation, monitoring, tracking, and occasional expediting of phantom purchase orders.
- Handle preparation of shipments, including packing and documentation for outside processes.
- Use and maintain Part Master files to support Materials Requirements Planning system fabrication requirements and on-time delivery to customers.
- Manage lead times, safety stock levels, and reorder points for assigned materials.
- Work with Engineering to provide material analysis for change cut-in dates and coordinate all new product introductions.
- Facilitate problem resolutions with Accounts Payable related to purchase orders, invoicing, and pricing.
- Use software programs such as MRP II, CAD, Shop Floor Control, Capacity Planning, MO Maintenance, Microsoft Excel, Word, and others.
- Analyze supplier performance and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or minimum five years of manufacturing experience.
- Thorough knowledge of ERP/MRP systems; SAP and/or AS400 strongly preferred.
- Knowledge in Lean Production and Continuous Improvement.
- Ability to effectively communicate across multiple departments in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner.
- Experience developing and implementing inventory control/supply chain strategies.
