Summary

Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Routes items to departments.
  • Move raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the facility.
  • Stage materials at workstations to support production schedules.
  • Accurately record material movements using inventory systems, scanners, or manual logs.
  • Perform material counts and assist with cycle counts or physical inventories.
  • Report inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or shortages to leadership.
  • Organize and maintain designated storage areas, racks, and staging zones.
  • Keep work areas clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards.
  • Dispose of scrap, waste, and recycling materials per company standards.
  • Follow all safety rules, OSHA regulations, and plant procedures.
  • Properly operate powered and non-powered material handling equipment.
  • Operate tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Computer proficient.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have intermediate data entry skills.
  • Must know LN and Microsoft Works Computer Skills.
  • Ability to pass forklift written and driving test.

Essential Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to talk and hear.
  • Required to stand, walk, climb, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Frequently required to use fingers, hands, and arms to handle and reach.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move 5-30lbs.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to work four 12-hour days, occasionally working up to 5 days/week as business demands.
  • Ability to wear protective gear due to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Able to frequently be exposed to weather conditions such as: precipitation, extreme cold and extreme heat.
  • Regularly required to wear hearing protection in a loud environment.
  • Crawl under trucks.
