Material Handling Associate I - Full Time - Days

About the role

Material Handling Associate I is responsible for stocking and delivering supplies to all hospital departments using par-level stocking and individual department requisitions. This position requires strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone within three rings in a pleasant and courteous manner, identifying self and department; manage customer frustration as observed by Manager.
• Handle telephone supply requests from calling departments promptly and courteously, as observed by Manager.
• Direct calls or take messages for the appropriate individual if unable to answer the caller’s question, ensuring caller needs are met.
• Maintain par-level locations accurately with adequate supplies based on department needs; notify Supervisor of required changes (e.g., increases or decreases of items).
• Ensure par-levels are arranged orderly, rotating supplies to prevent outdates; adjust quantities as department needs change.
• Identify and relocate possible outdates for use elsewhere in the facility or return them for credit.
• Assist hospital personnel courteously when dispensing supplies or answering supply-related questions; seek information if unable to answer.
• Rotate stockroom supplies using the first-in, first-out method to maintain inventory freshness.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all supplies dispensed from the stockroom.
• Assist the Inventory Control Clerk with monthly cycle counts as directed by Manager.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent (required).
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English (preferred).
• Organizational skills with the ability to work within designated time frames (preferred).

Pay

$18 - $23 per hour
