Material Handler III - Shipping - 2nd Shift
Responsibilities
- Accurately count and identify materials throughout the Materials area.
- Pick and deliver work between all departments and handle processing of materials in and out of the area.
- Replenish designated locations in the warehouse as needed.
- Operate all equipment in the Materials area, including a fork truck, prime mover, tugger, scales (mobile and floor), and crane.
- Perform warehouse tasks including line side storage, cycle counts, and move tickets.
- Properly identify the destination of materials being shipped and ensure proper shipping containers are used in consolidation and UPS.
- Familiarize with receipting methods and interface with other departments to ensure proper receipts and disbursement of materials.
- Accountable for process evaluation, measurement, documentation, and continuous improvement.
- Understand Kanban process, ensure inventory accuracy, and be responsible for locator and mainframe transactions.
- Capable of moving from one job to another within the department as necessary.
- Actively participate in department and process team activities.
- Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures to eliminate risk to health and the environment; notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices.
- Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.
- Participate in peer-based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience operating a forklift or equivalent equipment preferred.
- Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Sound decision-making skills.
- High degree of initiative and a good work record.
- Good math, counting, reading, and writing skills.
