Material Handler I Truss Shop

About the role

Under direct supervision, you will handle and maintain the flow of materials and products on the premises according to established guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Physically handle materials used to construct components and finished products to optimize movement; lift, carry, and stack items as needed.
• Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment, some of which may require specialized training.
• Respond attentively to training from foremen or more senior handlers to increase knowledge of work processes.
• Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attend periodic safety meetings as required.
• May recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training provided.

Skills

• Knowledge of and ability to use motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.
• Manual dexterity.
• Knowledge of safety procedures while performing materials handling tasks.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
