About the role
This is a 2nd shift position 2pm-10:30pm. As a Material Handler I you will perform various tasks including unloading, moving, and storing materials, conducting bin maintenance, filling orders, and performing inventory transactions.
Responsibilities
- Unload, move and store a variety of materials, parts, or products
- Conduct Bin Maintenance as needed
- Unload incoming materials, check identification for quantities and part numbers, report shortages or damaged material, move to storage areas
- Move materials between cells, following routing, delivery tickets or orders
- Fill orders from storage areas and warehouse stock and deliver to designated cells
- Operate hand truck to move materials and stack loaded pallets
- Load outgoing trucks using a hand truck or pallet jack
- Release and maintain the status of Kanbans and report on late orders
- Accurately perform inventory transactions in the G&W business system
- Perform cycle counts as requested
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
- Contribute to team effort by training others in the performance of material handler tasks as needed
- Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation
- Document actions by completing production and quality forms
Requirements
- A high school diploma, GED, or combination of work experience and skill development
- Ideal 0-1 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to safely use pallet jacks and other manual moving equipment
- Ability to read and interpret Bills of Material
- Basic to intermediate computer skills
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with others to support the manufacturing processes
- Previous warehouse or manufacturing experience is preferred
Physical Demands
- Work is classified as Medium - Heavy Physical Demand Level (PDL)
- Lifting Demands: Lift up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis floor to waist with assistance, lift up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis floor to waist, carry up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis up to 25 feet, push/pull up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis, push/pull more than 40 pounds on an occasional basis with assistance
- Postural Demands: Standing – continuous, Walking – continuous, Bending/stooping – frequent, Squatting/kneeling – frequent, Lifting – frequent
- Miscellaneous Demands: Griping, manipulation, fingering – continuous, Variable hand/power tool use – frequent, Two-person tasks using assistive devices for lifting, pulling and pushing including engine stands hand trucks, pallet jacks, and hoists
