Material Handler Full-time

Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1923 that provides free job training, education, and job placement across King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom, and Kitsap Counties. The organization employs over 2,000 people, operates five job‑training centers, 23 nonprofit retail stores, and more than 27 donation sites. About the Role

Material Handler – Production (non‑exempt), reporting to the Material Handler Supervisor. The Material Handler unloads donations from containers and moves goods to appropriate production areas, ensuring a smooth flow of materials.

Pay

$17.13 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Remove and sort salvage material and garbage from salable goods.
• Sort donations into appropriate bins for further processing.
• Provide a smooth flow of goods to the production floor.
• Use cardboard compactors and identify problems.
• Maintain donor tallies.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Demonstrate safe work practices and report any potential hazards or accidents.
• Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• If certified, safely operate a forklift in accordance with Seattle Goodwill standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalency preferred, but not required.
• No prior experience required.
• Seattle Goodwill forklift certification optional (must meet eligibility requirements).
• Physical ability to lift and carry 30‑40 lb; stand for long periods; frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, squatting, pushing; climb ladders; travel across stairs, ramps, and uneven terrain.
• Fine motor control for sorting, categorizing, counting, adding, and subtracting.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including with limited English speakers.
• Reliable attendance.
• Ability to work in an outdoor/warehouse environment with variable temperature and dust exposure.
