About the role

Material Handlers of Linen, under the direction of Supply Chain Management, receive, store, collect, track, and transport linen (sterile, clean, and/or soiled) and other supplies (surgical equipment, food service items, etc.) as needed throughout SJML, including off-site locations. This role involves working well within teams, independently, efficiently, and safely while routinely utilizing computers, tracking software, handheld units, and associated Supply Chain equipment. May be assigned to a linen/supply delivery route and driving a delivery van, operating it safely and in compliance with all Michigan driving laws. Driving responsibilities include performing Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI), monitoring the physical condition of the van, and refueling.

Responsibilities

• Transports and delivers equipment, linen, scrubs, and supplies to all user departments from supply holding areas.
• Responsible for unit inventories and coordination of linens to ensure adequate daily par levels and supply needs.
• Works closely with Receiving Dock Handlers to coordinate the flow of supplies, linen, and equipment to all user departments.
• Assists in unloading Co-op laundry trucks and transports clean linen to the clean linen holding area.
• Prepares unit-specific clean linen exchange carts following prescribed schedules and par levels.
• Delivers clean linen exchange carts to specific department locations.
• Collects soiled linen daily from units and transports it to the dock.
• Transfers soiled linen from collection carts to Co-op laundry carts in preparation for transport to Co-op Laundry.
• Places linen replenishment orders with Co-op Laundry.
• Operates elevators to transport supplies to and from designated areas.
• Maintains required distribution records.
• Answers telephone and responds to routine inquiries while maintaining good customer service.
• Operates SJML van to transport linen and supplies to off-site locations.
• Performs Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI), monitors the physical condition of the van, and refuels it.
• Potential to operate power industrial-type pallet jacks to transport heavy supplies throughout SJML (training and certification provided if not already certified).
• Responsible for unit-specific supply replenishment following prescribed schedules and par levels.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Current Michigan Driver’s License.

Skills

• Ability to prioritize assigned tasks and organize work.
