- Location: Onsite - Salt Lake City (84104)
- Schedule: Full Time, Hourly
- Shift: Mon-Fri - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
- Pay Range: $20 - $25/hour
Responsibilities
- Material Delivery: Pull and deliver material and parts to workstations (laser, brake press, welding, machining, assembly) according to production schedules and job travelers.
- Job Tracking: Track the status and location of jobs throughout the production floor; proactively flag delays, missing parts, or shortages to supervisors.
- Order Expediting: Expedite priority or rush orders by coordinating with production, purchasing, and quality to keep jobs on schedule.
- Equipment Operation: Operate forklift, overhead crane, and/or pallet jack to move material and finished goods safely.
- Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory counts through cycle counts and system transactions (ERP/MRP updates).
- Workspace Organization: Organize and maintain staging areas for efficient material flow, easy retrieval, and overall safety.
- Supply Chain Communication: Communicate clearly with purchasing regarding material shortages or discrepancies.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Industry Background: 1+ years of experience in material handling, expediting, or logistics, preferably in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Technical Reading: Ability to read job travelers, work orders, packing slips, and basic blueprints/part drawings.
- Equipment Experience: Experience operating a forklift (certification is a plus, or a strong willingness to obtain it).
- Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, including experience with ERP/MRP or inventory management systems.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to multitask and prioritize under tight deadlines.
- Communication: Good communication skills to effectively coordinate across multiple departments.
- Certifications: Current forklift certification and/or hands-on overhead crane experience.
- Material Identification: Experience with metal identification (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) and material specifications.
- Fabrication Knowledge: Prior hands-on experience working specifically within a metal fabrication environment.
- Education: High school diploma/GED; technical or vocational training in machining or manufacturing a plus.
