Safety Focus
This position requires the ability to safely operate Liebherr and Sennebogen material handlers. Safe material handling practices are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Liebherr and Sennebogen material handlers
- Sort, process, and move ferrous and nonferrous scrap metal
- Feed shredder and other processing equipment as directed
- Load and unload trucks
- Maintain efficient material flow throughout the yard
- Operate grapples, magnets, and other material handling attachments
- Perform daily preshift and postshift equipment inspections
- Report equipment deficiencies and maintenance concerns promptly
- Follow all company safety policies and operating procedures
- Auxiliary yard operations as needed
- Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe work area
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating material handlers, cranes, excavators, or similar heavy equipment required
- Scrap recycling experience strongly preferred
- Experience operating Sennebogen, Liebherr, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, or similar equipment preferred
- Strong understanding of safe material handling practices
- Ability to safely operate grapple and magnet attachments
- Dependable attendance and punctuality required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong awareness of surroundings and commitment to workplace safety
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday (Saturdays as needed based on operational requirements). Typical hours are 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Schedule is subject to operational needs and may vary.

Additional Requirements
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Must be able to pass a preemployment drug screening
- Must be able to safely operate heavy equipment in an active scrap recycling environment
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
- Must have their own pair of steeltoe safety boots on their first day of work
- Must be able to work around moving equipment, heavy materials, and industrial processing operations
