Material Handler: Coating

About the role

As a Coating Material Handler, you'll play a vital role in ensuring smooth production by efficiently managing and supplying materials. You will follow procedures, communicate with operators, maintain inventory, and prioritize safety by adhering to all company guidelines. Ongoing skill development is encouraged to address specific team needs.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the previous shift at the start of your shift to gain a comprehensive understanding of current production needs (e.g., rolling up materials, QC samples).
  • Provide all necessary coating operation tools (blades, filters, buckets, etc.) as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels of all coating batches, PET, MEK (dilution shed), and other materials, ensuring their availability.
  • Strictly adhere to all quality procedures when requesting and providing materials to and from mixing, coating areas, and quality control (QC) representatives.
  • Efficiently transport finished rolls from lacquer machines to the metalizing area and completed rolls to the storage warehouse.
  • Deliver coating operation tools (blades, filters, buckets, etc.) to operators as required.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all coating inventory, including tracking needs and providing location information when required.
  • Organize stock efficiently using forklifts, pallets, and cranes.
  • Safely remove empty containers from the coating area to the designated disposal location, following all safety guidelines.
  • Perform daily tasks related to operating the parts washer, ensuring machine parts, containers, and other tools are cleaned, dried, and ready for use (respirator required).
  • Prepare adequate dilution quantities, record inventory, and maintain a clean and organized dilution shed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment by ensuring the breezeway is free of debris.
  • Regularly verify, collect, and move recyclable materials (pallets, plastic cups, wooden ends, and metal clips) to designated areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Collaboration: Works independently while demonstrating teamwork.
  • Communication: Collaborates clearly with operators, helpers, and team members to ensure smooth production flow in person and via email.
  • Project management: Ability to handle multiple tasks with changing priorities.
  • Quality control: Possesses a keen eye for detail.
  • Safety compliance: Prioritizes safety by actively adhering to OSHA standards and forklift safety protocols while maintaining focus in potentially hazardous environments. No facial hair permitted (pulmonary/respirator testing required).
  • Physical abilities: Meets the physical demands of the role, including static pull strength of 84 lbs., push 60 lbs., lift 50 lbs., and mount/dismount a sit-down forklift.
  • Technical skills: Possesses basic computer skills to operate production-related software and maintain digital records. Forklift knowledge (sit-down) required.
  • Continuous improvement: Maintains a focus on process optimization.
