Material Handler

Job Description

The Material Handler position consists of manifold responsibilities within Supply Chain Services. Individuals interested in this position must be willing to learn and perform varied tasks and have the flexibility to work various shifts and schedules.

Core Competencies & Responsibilities

• Customer Service Orientation: Demonstrates responsiveness and professionalism in interactions with internal customers. Provides accurate and timely delivery of supplies and services.

• Attention to Detail: Accurately picks, packs, and delivers supplies. Maintains precise inventory records and documentation.

• Technical Proficiency: Operates MMIS (Premier Connect) and hand-held data terminals for inventory and order processing. Uses manual and electric material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).

• Physical Stamina and Safety Awareness: Capable of lifting and carrying 35–50 lbs and pushing/pulling over 74 lbs. Adheres to safety protocols, including use of PPE and safe driving practices.

• Adaptability and Flexibility: Willingness to work varied shifts and perform diverse tasks. Responds effectively to urgent delivery requests and changing priorities.

• Communication Skills: Communicates clearly with team members and customers. Provides information regarding stock items and delivery status.

• Organizational Skills: Maintains a clean and organized work area and delivery vehicle. Efficiently restocks and rotates inventory.

• Compliance and Confidentiality: Follows organizational policies regarding confidentiality and compliance. Completes mandatory training and adheres to professional standards.

• Team Collaboration: Works cooperatively with distribution staff and supervisors. Participates in cross-training and supports team goals.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.

• Valid Vermont driver’s license with clean driving record required.

• Previous pick, pack and shipping experience in either a distribution or retail environment. Customer service and dock-high truck driving experience also desired.
