Material Handler

Responsibilities

• Locate steel wire and rod coils for shipment based on production schedules and shipping requirements.
• Pack steel coils using steel strapping or nylon strapping in accordance with customer specifications and internal procedures.
• Secure coils to prevent damage during handling, storage, and transportation.
• Stage finished product in designated areas for shipment.
• Pull orders from inventory and deliver materials and supplies to production areas as needed.
• Maintain in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
• Identify, label, and record inventory locations accurately.
• Report inventory shortages, discrepancies, or damaged material to management.
• Safely operate forklifts (Hi-Lo) to move materials, coils, and supplies.
• Contribute to the orderly operation of stock and material storage areas.
• Adhere to all workplace safety rules, PPE requirements, and safe-work practices.

Requirements

• Experienced Material Handler using forklift and/or overhead crane.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to safely operate an industrial forklift.
• Physical ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience packaging steel wire or rod coils a plus.
