Material Handler
About the role
The Material Handler supports warehouse and manufacturing operations by operating powered industrial trucks, performing put-away and pulling functions, loading and unloading shipments, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This role operates third-shift (Monday-Friday, 10:00 PM-6:00 AM).
Responsibilities
- Operate various Powered Industrial Trucks and other powered material moving equipment, including box trucks; maintain certification and notify supervisor prior to certification expiration.
- Carry out put-away and pulling functions based on customer orders, ensuring the correct products are selected for each order item.
- Load and unload incoming, outbound trucks, and sea containers.
- Issue work order-based components and supplies to Repackaging and Production.
- Pull and assist with put-away of replenishments, ensuring the correct products and quantities are pulled per the transfer order.
- Record all inventory transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain first-in/first-out supply route.
- Distribute production schedules for specific processes to ensure schedule compliance and communicate any deviations or abnormalities from the plan to the supervisor and appropriate levels.
- Provide emergency support to Aftermarket, Repackaging, Shipping, and Production assembly as required.
- Support operations in Aftermarket, Logistics, and both WV KD warehouses.
- Organize and secure stored materials such as bales and super sacks.
- Conduct daily inspections of Powered Industrial Trucks and rack areas to ensure suitable working conditions and forklift equipment.
- Complete Powered Industrial Truck operator training, maintain certification, and notify supervisor prior to certification expiration.
- Report any damage to racks, faulty equipment, or any other safety hazards.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with 5S standards.
- Promptly report any abnormalities to management.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Forklift truck certification required (within one month of hire).
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic computer skills.
- Effective communication and excellent teamwork skills.
- Basic math skills with the ability to read labels and numbers.
- Able to perform data entry as required.
- Able to follow established procedures.
- Able to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to operate forklift trucks at high heights.
- Vocational or technical certification preferred.
- Manufacturing or inventory/warehouse experience preferred.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted. Able to lift 51-75 lbs. with assistance.
Physical Requirements
- Able to see and hear (correctable).
- Able to communicate verbally.
- Safety shoes and hi-vis required.
