About the role

The Material Handler directs the flow of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods throughout the manufacturing process from receipt of work order through final approval, consistent with production requirements and constraints. Some data entry is required. Performance is measured against established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record stock inventory levels and report inventory variances.
  • Understand warehouse and material movement process flow.
  • Operate pallet jack to move material from warehouse to APO and inside the APO department.
  • Perform basic data entry into the ERP system, including assigning and returning material.
  • Read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Communicate effectively and escalate issues to production lead or supervisor.
  • Exercise good judgment by making sound decisions and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Work autonomously throughout the day with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain attendance in good standing with a positive attitude and work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English and be understood.
  • Proficient and accurate in the use of computer software programs and accessing information from the company computer system.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with a focus on details.
  • Performs well under pressure and can handle multiple projects at one time.
  • Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation.
  • Basic organizational, communication, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience with a medical device manufacturer.
  • 2+ years of experience in warehouse job functions.
  • Forklift certification or demonstrated experience in operating a forklift.
  • Knowledge of injection molding or assembly operations.

Physical / Mental Demands

  • Work between a warehouse, transition room, and a cleanroom manufacturing floor with no abnormal hazards or risks.
  • Protective safety clothing is required, including appropriate dress code: no makeup or jewelry, shoe coverings, gloves, hairnet, and lab coat as needed.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, pull, push, and lift up to 25 pounds, and move/pull up to 100 pounds using a pallet jack.
  • Able to sit or stand for up to eight hours or throughout most of a shift with occasional walking.
  • Repetitive bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, and lifting.
  • Work may require weekend and evening shifts.
  • Work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be alert, able to concentrate, and use good judgment.
