About the role

3rd Shift (Monday - Friday 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM). Earn up to a $1,000 recruiting bonus ($500 after 90 days and $500 after 6 months). This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily safety inspection of forklift and work area.
  • Communicates with the previous shift.
  • Operates a forklift following safety rules and procedures.
  • Follows the maximum load limits, understands the center of gravity and its effects on load limits, and how to secure loads.
  • Transports finished goods and raw materials to the designated areas.
  • Loads and unloads trailers properly, following inspection of all floors and walls of all incoming trailers before loading.
  • Secures trailer wheel chocks, installs glad hand locks, trailer jacks when appropriate, and completes the AFC Loading Dock Safety Sign Off Sheet.
  • Wraps steel returnable skids.
  • Turns in all finished goods inventory tickets.
  • Ensures the wrapping area is clean and organized.
  • Performs housekeeping of the machine and area.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4-5 years' experience in the operation of a forklift truck, inventory control, or knowledge in using RF Scanner.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is a plus.
  • Proficient with all material handling and packaging devices, including forklifts and banding tools.
  • Able to understand and follow plant safety rules, such as wearing required PPE (safety glasses, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, and gloves).
  • Able to prioritize tasks and anticipate needs to effectively manage time to accomplish all tasks.
  • Must be able to understand, interpret, and carry out instructions in English.
  • Good work ethic and good attendance are mandatory.

Skills

Within 3 months, you'll gain knowledge of:

  • Maximum load limits and understanding the center of gravity and its effects on load limits.
  • How to secure loads.
  • Transporting finished goods and raw materials to designated areas.
  • Loading and unloading trailers properly, following inspection of all floors and walls of incoming trailers.

Pay

A good-faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $23.46/hour, plus a $0.75/hour shift differential. Placement in the range depends on several factors, including competencies, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business needs. Other compensation may include overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
