Material Handler - 3rd Shift
About the role
The Entry Material Handler role supports assigned team by operating a forklift to collect, stack, and deliver materials within the production plant.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates consistency in practicing all safety procedures.
- Identifies material types and practices proper disposal of scrap.
- Operates radios, scanners, trash compactor, and cardboard bailer.
- Maintains a clean and orderly area ensuring aisle ways are clear, part racks are organized, and parts are stocked in posted locations.
- Fills out daily check list and completes visual inspections.
- Keeps supplies adequately stocked for team's daily needs.
- Responds to team requests in a timely manner.
- Understands and utilizes functions within JDE programming (sending Kanban cards, tracking status and history).
- Utilizes all programs for communication of supply needs in department.
- Models Team Member Expected Behaviors and Henny Penny core values.
- Consistently models the Company values and expected behaviors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School/GED or equivalent experience
- 1+ experience in material handling or operating a forklift
- At least 18 years of age
- Frequent lifting or moving of objects up to 60 lbs
- Ability to multitask and prioritize internal customer needs
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Problem solving and troubleshooting ability
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as Kanban, JDE, BOM viewer, method sheets, etc.
- Reading, writing, and comprehension of simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Basic computer skills
- Passes pre-employment drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle screen (if applicable)
- Forklift certification required
- Crane license required for Punch Cell roles
