Material Handler - 3rd Shift

About the role
Operate warehouse forklift, clamp, or reach truck to move materials, supplies, and finished goods within the facility or onto trucks. Ensure compliance with company operating, safety, and housekeeping procedures, practices, and policies. This position reports to the 3rd shift, operating Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Some overtime may be required.
Responsibilities
- Perform material handling duties manually or using equipment, including unloading materials, completing delivery paperwork, and placing materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Support production by providing machines with proper stock and cases as required by Manufacturing Orders (MO), ensuring continuous flow and zero downtime prior to MO completion.
- Generate accurate and legible transfer and return slips; confirm accuracy of work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods transfers, following up on discrepancies.
- Safely unload incoming materials, confirm accuracy of freight bills, investigate and correct discrepancies, and ensure proper product placement for visibility and accessibility.
- Pick finished goods from storage, prepare for shipment by weighing and wrapping pallets, complete shipping paperwork, and load products onto outbound trucks.
- Perform pre-operation safety checks on equipment (battery, brakes, lift controls, fire extinguisher) and maintain charged batteries by switching with those on the charger.
- Follow all guidance in the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Conduct cycle counts and report findings to the Production Supervisor or Inventory Specialist.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area according to established standards, productivity levels, housekeeping, and safety requirements.
- Stack skids and pallets in designated areas; report mechanical problems or equipment damage to supervisors immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Ability to read and understand written instructions, including Manufacturing Orders, Job Hazard Analysis, policies, and procedures.
- Basic math skills for performing calculations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to accurately complete shipping, receiving, and inventory forms.
- Physical capability to lift, move, and adjust products averaging 25 to 50 pounds, with occasional assistance for materials exceeding 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for most of the shift, with some sitting; engage in long periods of standing, walking, and consistent lifting up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
- Non-temperature-controlled warehouse environment.
- Mandatory use of hearing protection and steel-toed shoes.
- Strict enforcement of safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards.
Pre-hire Employment
All offers of employment are conditional on successful completion of a criminal background check, physical examination, and drug screening, which includes testing for marijuana regardless of state-specific laws.
Pay
Compensation range: $22.74 - $23.00 per hour, with a $1.00/hour shift differential for the 3rd shift. Pay is determined based on skills, qualifications, and experience, consistent with applicable law.
