Material Handler 2
About the Role
The Material Handler 2 will execute receiving, inspection, storage, distribution and/or shipment of materials and/or samples in a GMP regulated environment. This role executes core tasks with minimal supervision and guidance.
The Material Handler 2 ensures materials and/or samples are received, stored, distributed and/or shipped to support Testing Operations within BioReliance and our clients.
Responsibilities
- Receive materials, client samples and/or internal finished goods daily.
- Check and process received items in line with appropriate quality procedures (physical/quantity check and paperwork verification).
- Ensure inventory is stored and distributed in line with agreed quality/regulatory compliance (e.g., GMP material control, temperature control) and provide traceability through maintenance of accurate system transactions (ERP or LIMS).
- Maintain stock accuracy at all times through timely system maintenance such as cycle counting and routine disposal.
- Actively maintain a clean, audit-ready, and safe work environment, including equipment monitoring/maintenance under the responsibility of the department.
- Perform inter-site transfer of samples or materials between departments, via internal transportation or courier.
- Operate material handling equipment as necessary (e.g., hand truck, pallet jack, dock lever, etc.).
- Notify relevant personnel immediately and escalate to Supervisor/Manager should a deviation or other unexpected observation occur.
- Communicate and interact professionally with all levels of the organization, including timely communications and responses via business applications.
- Perform tasks in accordance with SOPs and regulations (e.g., cGMP and GLP) and comply with company Quality and EHS regulations and procedures.
- Support and/or lead small department continuous improvement or business projects as agreed by line management to streamline processes, make cost savings, or reduce waste.
- Support deviation investigations and implementation of corrective actions; open related Quality Management System records.
- Maintain all records and archives as appropriate following the appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support Internal/Client/Regulatory audit tours.
- Mentor others in relevant Supply Chain processes.
- Pick, pack, and ship (domestic/international) materials in line with client requirements and in accordance with relevant shipping SOP documentation and regulations.
- Communicate with Customer & Client Support Managers, Labs, PM, and other BioReliance sites regarding outgoing shipments.
- Troubleshoot courier and/or delivery issues.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with 3+ years of experience in a logistics or warehouse role OR Associate’s degree in any discipline with 1+ years of experience in a logistics or warehouse role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Domestic and international shipping experience.
- Prior experience in a Life Science or Biotechnology role.
- Working knowledge of basic computer systems (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) and databases such as Oracle ERP or LIMS.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working in PPE as required (lab coat, safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, etc.).
- Dangerous Goods shipping certification or ability to pass certification process.
Pay
Pay range for this position: $21–$33/hour. The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. Position may be eligible for sales or performance-based bonuses.
