Material Handler - 1st Shift

About the role

The Material Handler is responsible for effectively controlling the tracking, storage, and issuance of materials to production lines, supporting shipping/receiving, and contributing to continuous improvement in a safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Proactively supports production lines with materials for all aspects of production and packaging.
• Ensures proper inventory of production materials and finished goods in a Pull Manufacturing environment.
• Monitors and maintains receiving/shipping areas by timely warehousing newly received items and staging outgoing product.
• Assists in shipments and receipts as needed.
• Monitors and assists in packaging materials for shipment efficiently.
• Inventories packaging materials and maintains FIFO (First-In, First-Out) practices.
• Supports routine cycle counts and other inventory functions.
• Ensures consistent companywide materials programs are implemented and adhered to.
• Ensures quality and on-time delivery of products and services.
• Audits and monitors finished goods for proper packaging, tagging, and necessary information.
• Uses MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and established practices for accurate, timely reporting of product location and material tracking.
• Understands and uses daily/monthly production schedules, including production time, preventive maintenance, and product development needs.
• Uses electronic inventory management systems to move, store, and locate materials.
• Documents and monitors procedures to eliminate variation and promote knowledge sharing.
• Utilizes and develops visual tools for process improvement.
• Creates, learns, understands, and follows documented work procedures.
• Assists in developing work instructions, training team members, and supporting special projects.
• Initiates and supports continuous improvement and waste elimination using established processes to improve yield, customer satisfaction, and reduce costs.
• Generates and documents solutions and improvement ideas.
• Shares and assists in implementing yield, process, and safety improvements within Tru Vue, Inc.
• Functions effectively in a high-performance team environment.
• Cross-trains in related functions to ensure operational continuity despite staffing fluctuations.
• Fosters a collaborative "How can I help you?" environment.
• Participates in shift change meetings and communicates across shifts for effective material handling.
• Performs all other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Obtains and maintains a Tru Vue Forklift Operation License in good standing.
• One year of forklift experience with a good driving record.
• Familiarity with electronic inventory management systems, including devices and processes.
• Computer data entry experience is beneficial.
• Ability to learn and perform electronic transactions accurately.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Quality systems preferred.
• Ability to learn, understand, and perform all production jobs.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and plan ahead to meet production needs and minimize downtime.
• Ability to accurately complete electronic transactions and paperwork related to inventory and production.
• Ability to work effectively and cross-train in a team environment.
• Demonstrated basic computer skills in a Windows-based environment.
• Previous bar-coding experience preferred.
• Flexible, conscientious, quality-minded, and detail-oriented.
• High sensitivity to quality and on-time delivery of materials.
• Sensitive to diverse cultures/backgrounds; able to work in a multicultural workplace.

Work Environment

The noise level in the production environment is usually loud. The role involves working near moving mechanical parts, occasional exposure to vibration and risk of electric shock, and varying temperatures (heat and cold).

Pay

$19.00–21.00/hour

Schedule

1st Shift – Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
