Material Handler - 1st shift

Responsibilities

• Coordinates material movement between departments per routing requirements.
• Sorts questionable materials per Quality Control’s request.
• Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.
• Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
• Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.
• Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
• Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.
• When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring.
• Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
• Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE. Proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
• Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement. Proposes changes to Materials Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience Requirements: One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred. Forklift Certification a plus.
• Physical Demands and Work Environment: Some physical demand, often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material. Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours). Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
