Responsibilities
- Coordinates material movement between departments per routing requirements
- Sorts questionable materials per Quality Control’s request
- Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary
- Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support
- Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods
- Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions
- Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts
- Assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring when assigned
- Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems
- Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE, and proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions
- Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement and proposes changes to Materials Manager
Requirements
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Basic math and computer skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred
- Forklift Certification a plus
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The role requires some physical demand, including frequent lifting/moving of light to heavy-weight material (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs), pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours). The ability to operate motorized vehicles and stand and/or walk constantly on concrete over a full work shift is also necessary. The work environment may include exposure to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn.
