Material Handler 1 - WAR
Safety Focus
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of materials throughout the facility. This role supports manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations by ensuring materials are delivered to the appropriate locations in a timely manner to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
Essential Job Functions
- Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks to transport, load, unload, stack, and store materials throughout the facility.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments accurately and efficiently.
- Stage raw materials, components, and finished goods to support production and shipping activities.
- Perform manual material handling tasks, including lifting, carrying, stacking, and moving materials as needed.
- Utilize barcode scanners, ERP systems, and inventory management software to record material transactions and allocate inventory to work orders.
- Verify material quantities, product identification, and storage locations to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation activities.
- Conduct daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and material handling equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to production areas to support manufacturing schedules.
- Follow established quality standards and procedures to prevent product damage and inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Identify opportunities to improve material flow, inventory control, and operational efficiency.
- Support warehouse, inventory, production, shipping, and receiving functions as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum six (6) months of forklift operating experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain company forklift certification.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, inventory labels, shipping documents, and production records.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
