Material Expediter

Overview

VTG is currently seeking a Material Expediter to join their team at NAS North Island in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities

• Locates and moves materials and parts between work areas of plant to expedite processing of goods, according to pre-determined schedules and priorities.
• Keeps related records, reviews production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine types, quantities, and availability of required material and priorities of customer orders.
• Confers with department supervisors to determine materials overdue and to inform them of location, availability, and condition of materials.
• Limits to specified production areas, using cart or hand truck, and records quantity and type of materials distributed and on hand.
• May direct Power-Truck Operator or Material Handling Laborer to expedite movement of materials between storage and production areas.
• Compares work ticket specifications with material at work stations to verify appropriateness of material in use.
• Prepares worker production records and timecards.
• Maintains inventory records, using computer terminal.
• Fulfills the responsibilities of a Material Handler and a Material Expediter.
• Responsible for material control, inventory, and physical accountability of materials.
• Responsible for keeping inventory management databases updated with current material status.
• Performs all functions required to receive, store, issue inventory, ship, and maintain material.
• Captures a supply system that stages, stores, rejects, disposes of, and holds material in accordance with governing instructions.

Qualifications

• Education: Successful completion of high school is preferred.
• Experience: Experience working in a Material Expediter role of a similar scope and size is preferred.
• Other Qualifications: Requires skills such as walking, running, climbing, crawling, jumping and other similar physical activities. Must endure extreme climate conditions and work in an outdoor setting.

Pay

VTG's base pay range is $31.00 per hour, which is a general guideline for the geographic location, work experience, education, skill level, and/or market considerations.
