About the Role

The Finance Team in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking an experienced Material Estimating Cost Specialist. In this role you will coordinate with key stakeholders to create costed bills of material from GDLS’ historical material cost database and Material Requirement Planning (MRP) system for inclusion in deliverable GDLS proposals, ensuring compliance with Federal and Defense Acquisition Regulations (FARs/DARs) and GDLS business unit and corporate guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Primary contact from Material Estimating to SCM
• Draft and maintain buyer directions
• Create quote matrix and track quote status
• Update SCM managers on quote status
• COPD collection (FAR Cost Analysis Matrix and assist audit coordination)
• Certification sweeps
• Maintain several tables, reports, and lists
• Present semi‑annual training with SCM
• Prepare advance funding requests
• Work with all material estimators
• Preparation for quoting events
• Provide quote matrix to estimators
• Provide FAR Cost Analysis Matrix and collect COPD as required
• Prepare quote matrix based on BOM received
• Data retrieval from Oracle ERP, Cognos, or ProPricer (estimating software) and analysis via Excel
• Update any process changes into the standard work instructions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Material Management (other degrees considered with relevant experience)
• 5–7 years in a related role
• Ability to use Oracle system and associated ERP systems
• Strong oral and written communication and organization skills
• Strong conflict‑resolution and problem‑solving abilities
• Team‑oriented mindset to meet objectives and performance metrics
• Ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, and provide timely status updates
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel (large data sets, macros); Power BI experience helpful

Schedule

9‑80 work schedule: employees work a nine‑hour day Monday through Thursday and receive every other Friday off.
