Material Control Technician (Weekend Day Shift - Onsite)
Position Overview
Under direct supervision, this position is responsible for the Material Control Room Operation. The team member will perform the physical and administrative tasks involved in the Kitting Room. The Material Control Technician I is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate issuance and delivery of materials required for production and ensuring the Material Control Room has the proper workflow to meet the demand. Applicable standard operating procedures and following through on all material movements to guarantee they are handled in accordance with applicable FDA and cGMP procedures.
Schedule
This position requires working an 8-hour shift, Monday through Friday. First shift works 6:00am-2:30pm, second shift 2:00pm-10:30pm, and third shift 10:00pm-6:30am. Business needs may necessitate adjusting shift start and end times and days.
Responsibilities
- Operate systems and equipment such as computers, software, and printers as trained and specified
- Deliver raw materials to various cells in the Cleanroom
- Meet or exceed production efficiency standards on a regular basis which includes adequate replenishment of the Material Control Room, prompt response to radio requests, and adequate cleanroom replenishment
- Perform accurate and timely ERP System (SAP) transactions for any material movement performed
- Maintain work areas and equipment in a functioning, clean, and orderly condition
- Safely operate a forklift, hand truck, or other material transport equipment; must be open to training
- Perform material pre-issuance tasks like Silicone Mixture preparation and siliconizing raw material as needed
- Proper End of Shift cleanup including but not limited to: emptying all trash bins, boxing returned empty trays, cleaning workstations and work areas, removing empty pallets from the Kitting/Material Control Room, and placing bad pallets appropriately
- Provide detailed End of Shift report communication to incoming shift
- Use manual pallet jacks for pallet movement
- Ensure safety awareness and adherence to all safety policies to minimize safety risks
- Assist other departments when needed, including but not limited to the warehouse (Shipping and Receiving)
- Complete all assigned QMS training and keep up to date before performing a task
- Operate warehouse equipment such as manual pallet jacks and Plastic Baler
- Replenish the Material Control Room and prepare components for transfer to the clean room based on Kanban System
- Respond promptly to handheld portable two-way radio transceiver
- Perform Other Duties As Required
Education and Experience
High School Diploma, GED and/or equivalent combination of education or experience.
Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in a manufacturing operator role with working knowledge of a warehouse environment
- No previous material handling experience required
- Must be proficient in English language to be able to read documentation, work instructions, and communicate effectively
- Keen eye for quality, dependable, and will work collaboratively within a team with a positive attitude
- Highly motivated, proactive problem solver, and a self-starter that can work both independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics/AX Software, SAP, or ability to learn SAP Materials Management module
- Proficient in business environment software applications - MS Office
- Minimum 1 year experience in warehouse, packaging, or manufacturing support environment preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to effectively prioritize and perform multiple tasks
- Stand up and sit-down forklift operation experience is a plus
- Familiarity with ergonomic lifting techniques
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Medical device industry experience a plus
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and transfer loads up to 30-50 lbs
- Must be able to safely operate electric and manual pallet jacks
- Must be able to stand and bend up to 8 hours a day
- Required to lift above shoulder frequently and below waist occasionally
- Familiarity with ergonomic lifting techniques
- This position requires on-site working (requires on-site office/plant/lab work)
Pay
Annual base salary range: $17.49 - $26.24. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation.
