About the Role

Join our warfighter technology team and contribute to delivering breakthrough technologies for our defense customers. As a Material Chemist, you'll be part of a dynamic team developing, integrating, testing, and transitioning unique soft material technologies to address critical mission challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Support internal initiatives and government customers by executing product development efforts across internal and external teams.
  • Perform custom formulations, develop soft materials, and generate test samples.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure material solutions align with mission priorities.
  • Act as a formulator, engineer, applied scientist, applicator, and technical expert to drive technology readiness and manufacturability.
  • Focus on technology maturation, transition, and integration within the defense industry, including technical project management.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and mission experts to solve complex problems and provide innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Experience developing chemicals, production mixes, soft materials, or specialized coatings for industrial, petrochemical, or defense customers.
  • Experience with data analysis in areas such as energetic formulations, polymer science, formulary science, additives, or applied science.
  • Proven ability to execute across multiple projects with multidisciplinary teams, including scientists, engineers, business professionals, mission partners, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of technology, manufacturing, and integration readiness levels, as well as launch, maintenance, or sustainment of soft material technologies.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, or Chemical Engineering.

Qualifications

  • Nice to Have: 1+ years of experience working in a fast-paced team environment and in project management.
  • Experience supporting the DoD with contractual and technical requirements, testing and evaluation, market research, technology scouting, material integration, procurement, financial tracking, and schedule development.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, Kanban, or other project management styles.
  • Advanced degrees (Master’s or Doctorate) in Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related fields are a plus.

Pay

The projected compensation range for this position is $62,000.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). Salary is determined by factors such as location, education, skills, experience, and organizational requirements.

Schedule

This role may require occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility, depending on the work model (Remote, Hybrid, or Onsite).
