Master's Level Substance Abuse Disorder Counselor

About the role

Join the VitalCore Health Strategies team in Mississippi as a Master's Level SUD Counselor at Delta Correctional Facility in Greenwood. You will work in a face-to-face setting with individuals from diverse socioeconomic and educational backgrounds, making a tangible impact during their most challenging moments. This role is part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team including Medical, Psychiatry, Ancillary, Security, Legal, community providers, and psychiatric hospitals, enabling real-time, collaborative care.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis stabilization, complete intakes, and ongoing evaluations.
• Consult with in-house and community services to determine overall treatment plans.
• Participate in monthly behavioral health calls and collaborate with the medical team.
• Perform risk assessments of inmates and coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team, including medical staff, community providers, psychiatric hospitals, and corrections.
• Assist in planning and implementing program goals and objectives.
• Prepare and maintain documentation, records, and reports.
• Utilize clinical skills such as prioritizing treatment needs, crisis management, and brief clinical interventions (e.g., CBT and Motivational Interviewing).
• Make independent clinical decisions while seeking supervisory assistance as needed.

Requirements

• Graduation from a Master's level program or higher in a clinician/counselor/social work capacity.
• Employment experience in a public or private agency or equivalent is preferred.
• Individuals who are not certified must be under the direct supervision of a certified clinical supervisor with written documentation of supervision.
