Master's Level Behavioral Health Professional

About the role

VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Health Care, is seeking a Master's Level Mental Health Professional at South Mississippi Correctional Institute in Leakesville, MS.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team with all other disciplines in the Behavioral Health Unit to provide a proactive and collaborative approach in serving the patient population in a correctional environment.
• Administer assessments, make clinical decisions, provide Mental Health treatment, and hold any of the following licenses or license eligible: CMHC, LCPC, LPC, LCSW, LMFT, ACMHC, ALMFT, CSW or equivalent.
• Co-leads group therapy, one-on-one therapy, and crisis therapy.
• Provide crisis stabilization, complete intakes and on-going evaluations, and provide consultation to in-house and community services.
• Participate in monthly behavioral health calls and work collaboratively with the medical team to determine the best overall treatment for each individual.
• Perform risk assessment of inmates; coordinate care with interdisciplinary team including medical staff, community providers, psychiatric hospitals and corrections; and discharge planning.
• Aid in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of programs and projects.
• Prepare necessary documentation, maintain records, and generate reports.
• Utilize clinical skills such as prioritizing treatment needs, crisis management, brief clinical interventions including CBT and Motivational Interviewing.
• Maintain excellent and timely documentation skills.
• Make independent clinical decisions, while utilizing assistance and supervisory intervention, as needed.

Requirements

• Graduation from a Master’s level program in a behavioral health related field.
• Minimum of one year employment in a social work capacity in a public or private agency or equivalent.
• License or license eligibility in a mental health profession (CMHC, LCPC, LPC, LCSW, LMFT, ACMHC, ALMFT, CSW).
• Satisfactory background investigation report.

The ideal candidate is able to make independent clinical decisions, while utilizing assistance and supervisory intervention, as needed.

Skills

Excellent and timely documentation skills, clinical skills including prioritizing treatment needs, crisis management, brief clinical interventions including CBT and Motivational Interviewing.
