Located in Livonia, Michigan, Beaver Aerospace & Defense spans three facilities (100,000+ sq. ft.) with over 130 employees. About the Role

The Master Scheduler / Planning Manager leads the production planning and scheduling function, ensuring alignment between customer demand, SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning), and manufacturing capacity. This role owns the Master Production Schedule (MPS), capacity planning, and constraint management while driving schedule stability and execution performance. The position serves as the central point of coordination across operations, procurement, and commercial teams and leads a team of production planners.

Responsibilities

  • SIOP & Demand-Supply Alignment
    • Lead the supply planning process within SIOP (monthly and weekly cycles).
    • Translate demand forecasts into feasible production and capacity plans.
    • Identify capacity gaps, imbalances, and risks across the horizon.
    • Perform scenario and what-if analysis to support decision-making.
    • Partner cross-functionally to align demand priorities with supply capabilities.
  • Master Production Scheduling
    • Develop, maintain, and execute the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
    • Balance customer demand with operational capacity and constraints.
    • Establish planning time fences and scheduling policies.
    • Maintain schedule stability while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Capacity Planning & Constraint Management
    • Own rough-cut and finite capacity planning across key work centers.
    • Manage and optimize bottleneck resources at all operations.
    • Drive constraint utilization and throughput improvement.
    • Align capacity plans with future demand requirements.
  • Production Scheduling & Execution
    • Establish and communicate daily and weekly production priorities.
    • Sequence jobs to optimize flow, reduce changeovers, and improve delivery performance.
    • Manage hot jobs and expedite requests using structured prioritization.
    • Continuously reschedule work based on demand, performance, and constraints.
  • Problem Identification & Resolution
    • Proactively identify risks including overloads, delays, and bottlenecks.
    • Analyze root causes of schedule disruptions and capacity issues.
    • Lead cross-functional resolution efforts with operations, procurement, and quality.
    • Escalate risks with data-driven recommendations.
  • Planning Team Leadership
    • Lead and develop production planners (direct reports).
    • Standardize planning processes, tools, and best practices.
    • Define clear ownership and accountability across planning activities.
    • Monitor team performance and drive capability development.
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement
    • Develop and track key planning KPIs and performance metrics.
    • Improve schedule adherence, stability, and execution.
    • Reduce expedite frequency and reactive planning.
    • Drive ERP (Infor LN) system utilization and data accuracy.
    • Identify and implement process improvements in planning and scheduling.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or defense.
  • Strong understanding of SIOP/S&OP, capacity planning, production scheduling, manufacturing processes, and constraint-based planning.
  • Ability to identify risks, balance competing priorities, and translate operational data into clear, actionable decisions.
  • Highly proficient in ERP systems, with Infor LN strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience using data to support planning decisions, improve schedule performance, conduct root cause analysis, and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Prior experience leading planners, schedulers, or planning functions is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Must meet security screening requirements as set out by ITAR directives.
