Master HVAC Technician
About the role
Villanova University is a Catholic institution sponsored by the Augustinian Order. This position serves as a Master HVAC Technician, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting building HVACR systems and equipment to ensure a comfortable and safe environment across all campus facilities.
Responsibilities
- Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs HVACR equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines and industry standards.
- Installs HVACR units, ductwork, and DDC devices.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electronic, electrical, and mechanical components.
- Maintains and repairs electrical, oil/gas, refrigeration, and other equipment.
- Conserves, recycles, and reclaims refrigerants.
- Performs various carpentry, masonry, painting, and plastering tasks.
- Assists with furniture and event setups, decorations, and other duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, with formal training and acceptable life experiences in HVACR work.
- Current EPA Universal/R410A license.
- A minimum of ten years of relevant experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a good record.
- Ability to recover, recycle, and reclaim refrigerants.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to perform various pipefitting techniques.
- Knowledge of direct and indirect mechanical drive components.
- Experience with chilled/heating water hydronic generation equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair control panels and hydronic water distribution systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electric heat sources and direct expansion/refrigeration systems.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as climbing ladders, bending, reaching, crawling, lifting, and working in enclosed spaces.
- Excellent safety record.
Qualifications
- Current OSHA 10 certification or higher.
- Ability to operate aerial/scissor lifts, bucket trucks, and forklifts.
Skills
- Proficient in a variety of control systems including direct digital control, pneumatic, electro-pneumatic, electronic, electric, and electro-mechanical controls.
- Ability to read and interpret OSHA guidelines and Safety Data Sheets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written directions.

Pay
$44.96 per hour.
Schedule
Full-time/12-months, core hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Additional hours may be required for emergency repairs.
References
Three references are required.
Application Process
To apply, candidates must complete a timed 135-question pre-qualification exam and participate in a verbal panel-style interview. All needed formulas for the exam questions will be provided with the exam. Following the exam, a verbal panel style interview will be conducted lasting approximately one hour.
