About the role

Performs routine preventive maintenance to ensure the safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures by following established preventive maintenance schedules and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects, cleans, and repairs facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
  • Observes and documents signs of wear and tear.
  • Gathers capital expense information and recommends repair or replacement needs to eliminate ongoing and future repairs.
  • Documents preventive maintenance and repair activities.
  • Performs major and minor repairs on facilities, equipment, or fixtures using multiple craft skills (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment).
  • Inspects, operates, or tests facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
  • Dismantles equipment, machines, or facilities to access and remove defective parts.
  • Diagnoses problems using blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs.
  • Utilizes hand tools, power tools, hoists, and other equipment.
  • Provides prompt response to emergency calls.
  • Installs electrical panels, breakers, switches, outlets, lighting systems, and conduit.
  • Uses heavy machinery.
  • Serves as a technical subject-matter expert and lead for electrical systems by analyzing complex electrical issues, designing solutions, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes (NEC).
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for external electrical contractors and inspectors.
  • Provides mentorship and technical guidance to Journeyman and Apprentice Electricians and other Maintenance associates, including training on proper electrical techniques, code requirements, and safety protocols (e.g., Arc Flash safety).
  • Reviews work quality to ensure it meets Master level standards.
  • Manages work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors by completing and providing required written and electronic information (e.g., expense vouchers, weekly summaries, work orders, maintenance logs).
  • Conducts price comparisons of parts and travel-related costs, orders parts and replacement equipment, and tracks orders.
  • Records purchases and usage, and submits warranty claims.
  • Complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations and guidelines.
  • Ensures quality work complies with federal, state, and local regulations and that contractors follow Walmart quality standards and safety requirements.
  • Identifies and reports deficiencies.
  • Unloads and stores equipment, and transports equipment between facilities.
  • Leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools.
  • Determines customer needs and business priorities, coordinates and executes work assignments, and provides advice, feedback, and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved.
  • Models and promotes compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity, and assists management with correcting ethical and compliance issues.
  • Follows safety procedures, responds to work orders, completes documentation, and coordinates with managers, coworkers, customers, and other business partners.
  • Maintains a safe work environment, observes and adheres to all safety policies and procedures, and reports violations to management.
  • Ensures all assigned equipment, tools, safety items, vehicles, trailers, and other items are maintained in proper working order by following proper maintenance and inventory schedules.
  • Performs other facility-related maintenance duties as assigned.
  • Maintains vehicles in working mechanical and cleanliness condition, coordinates and takes vehicles for required maintenance, and safely operates motor vehicles.
  • Checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights, and submits maintenance invoices for payment.
  • Verifies the coverage and validity of vehicle insurance.
  • Wears company uniform and badge according to company policies and procedures.
  • Participates in an on-call rotation, occurring approximately every 4–6 weeks, to support business-critical needs outside of standard business hours.
  • Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment (e.g., forklifts, material handling equipment, industrial machines, shop equipment, vehicles) in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures.
  • Performs pre-operation safety checks and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is safe, functional, and compliant with applicable standards.
  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and provides expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices.
  • Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, identifying business needs, and determining necessary processes and practices.
  • Models compliance with company policies and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.

Skills

  • Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and material handling equipment expertise.
  • Ability to read blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, hoists, and heavy machinery.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for complex electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and national electrical codes (NEC).

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Schedule

  • Participates in an on-call rotation, occurring approximately every 4–6 weeks, to support business-critical needs outside of standard business hours.
