About the role

Performs a variety of repetitive electrical maintenance duties necessary to install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment needed for the production of finished products. Requires an advanced understanding of control circuits, DC and AC drives, overhead cranes, electronics, test equipment, and electrical codes, as well as the ability to program PLC. Operates various electrical monitors and meters, hand tools, oscilloscope, and thermos energy camera. Serves as the Electrical Maintenance Team Lead by providing direction to the Electrician, including training, daily direction/work orders, and checking work. Works directly with vendors when ordering parts. Receives general supervision with general instructions for assigned tasks from the Plant Superintendent. This position is deemed safety-sensitive; any impairment caused by drug, alcohol, or cannabis usage could threaten health or safety.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate electrical monitors and meters, hand tools, oscilloscope, and thermos energy camera to install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment, including instrumentation and electronic boards for Ajax converters.
  • Follow wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications, and instructions for scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection.
  • Perform PLC programming.
  • Check and calibrate plant instrumentation.
  • Inspect electrical equipment for defects.
  • Determine the best repair methods to minimize production interruption.
  • Advise on immediate shutdown of equipment to minimize damage or continued operation when safe.
  • Dismantle, inspect, repair, adjust, replace, and reassemble faulty parts on electrical equipment.
  • Complete reports and forms as directed.
  • Work directly with vendors when ordering parts.
  • Assist the Plant Superintendent with planning electrical maintenance activities.
  • Provide training, daily direction/work orders, and check work for the Electrician.
  • Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Superintendent.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience as an electrician in a heavy industrial environment.
  • PLC programming experience required.
  • Master Electrician’s License required.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical codes.
  • Ability to read, write, add, subtract, and follow instructions.

Pay

$50.00 / hr.
