Master Craftsman
Job Responsibilities
Construction and/or renovations to SCPRT facilities and maintenance to buildings and grounds.
Aids Construction Foreman with planning and staging of materials.
Helps with job phases to ensure tasks are performed in an efficient manner.
Communicates regularly with Foreman about any problems that may arise during projects.
Performs Historic Restoration projects involving carpentry, electrical and plumbing.
Maintains tools and equipment on a daily basis.
Stores tools in proper locations and periodically checks for any defective or broken tools.
Affirms the maintenance program and its resources are managed and implemented in an efficient and effective manner.
Fulfills all state, agency, and program processes, procedures, operations, and laws.
Maintains positive working relationships with all visitor services staff and managers, SCPRT staff, contractors, vendors, and other partners to ensure program goals and objectives are met.
Serves as a leader in providing a safe, healthy, and pleasing stop with facilities, grounds and services that exceed guest expectations.
Promotes a team atmosphere.
Serves as a liaison to business and governmental groups, state industry, etc.
Abides by the Agency Code of Conduct.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and 3+ years in facilities maintenance, grounds and repair, park maintenance, construction or related experience.
- Able to manage several projects at a time and coordinate resources across the state.
- Thorough knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in construction and maintenance.
- Working knowledge and competency in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing trades.
- Ability to communicate effectively, understand written instructions and read building drawings.
- Valid SC Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades preferred.
Additional Comments
Actual Job Location: Construction & Maintenance - Field Monday-Thursday, 40 hours weekly.
