Master Class/Class I/Electrician
About the role
Livonia Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified Electrician for the Maintenance Department. The district employs approximately 1,900 staff members and serves approximately 13,300 students from pre-K through post-secondary education. The district includes 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, 1 career technical center, 1 early childhood center, and 1 vocational and transition center.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in schools and other facilities.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to plan and perform work.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal electrical codes and regulations.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical systems to prevent failures and ensure safety.
- Work independently and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks.
- Handle emergencies and make repairs as needed.
Requirements
- Electrical Master/Journeyman license with at least two years of related electrical experience.
- Additional experience in commercial buildings preferred.
- Ability and experience in reading schematics and blueprints.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Chauffeur’s license.
- Ability and willingness to work in high places.
- Self-motivated and willing to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to accept additional training.
Qualifications
- Must be able to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have an outstanding attendance record.
Conditions of Employment
- Regular working hours are 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year.
- All maintenance employees are subject to call in 24 hours per day, any day of the week, and must work the necessary hours required.
- The position will be reported to the Supervisor of Maintenance.

Salary and Benefits
Salary and benefits will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Agreement between the Livonia Public Schools School District and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO Local 118, Council 25.
