Responsibilities

  • Operating, maintaining, and repairing uninterruptible power systems including rectifiers, inverters, batteries, and their associated controls and distribution.
  • Diagnosing and repairing stand-by power supplies including diesel, gasoline, oil and other types of engine alternators and their associated controls and distribution in facilities other than switching.
  • Maintaining, diagnosing and repairing building electrical systems of 480 volts or less.
  • Aiding outside contractors in overhaul of uninterruptible stand-by power supplies and in testing of building electrical systems.
  • Diagnosing and repairing failures in environmental cooling system refrigeration components, i.e., chillers, compressors, and their associated controls, etc., with capacities up to 500 tons.
  • Maintaining hardware and software, diagnosing and repairing centralized energy management control systems including adding control points, reprogramming building operations through microprocessor software changes, etc.
  • Maintaining emergency engines in critical administrative locations.
  • Wears appropriate safety equipment.
  • Spend most of shift walking, standing, and/or climbing ladders.
  • Works independently with minimum supervision.
  • May be exposed to all weather conditions.
  • Works in various buildings and surroundings, such as roofs, attics, basements, offices, etc.
  • May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.
  • Works evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business.
  • Work tour hours are 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday (hours may vary).

Requirements

  • Must meet safety-related requirements including but not limited to those standards of safety imposed by OSHA, state agencies, manufacturers, and/or the Company.
  • Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to, lifting, carrying, and maneuvering heavy equipment weighing up to 70 lbs.
  • Must hold Type Universal Technician Certification as designated by EPA regulations-40 CFR Part 82 Subpart H.
  • Must hold a valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Qualifications

  • Recent experience performing maintenance and repairs on commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Test(s) Required: Building Maintenance Qualification Test, Verizon Job Fit Test B Test Previews.
